- MAKING A NEW SCREEN -

You need :

Tools to dismantle and remove the old screen from the camera.

Two pieces of glass. One must be the finished size of the replacement screen, the other should be larger and is used to work on. Thickness of the screen glass is 1.1 - 1.2 mm.

Vehicle engine valve grinding paste.

1) Remove the old screen and check size of replacement for a good fit.

2) Place the waste sheet of glass on a bench or table evenly supported.

3) Apply grinding paste to the surface of the bottom sheet then rub the two pieces, one on top of the other in a circular motion relacing the paste from time to time until the surface of the top glass is satisfactorily ground. This is a LONG process so be patient.

4) Thoroughly clean the glass to be fitted in the camera. Wash in warm soapy water and dry carefully.

5) Fit glass in camera, ground side forward (nearest lens) and test. If the image is not sufficiently clear remove the screen and grind more.
