THIS MECHANISM is easily broken and by virtue of its design can cause wear on the rising front. The usual problem is for the thread inside the soft aluminium knob to strip due to overtightening. MPP Ltd. made these parts 'In House' and used a less popular size of thread, namely 5 BA.
A repair can be effected.
Threaded collar - 5 BA internal thread. Epoxy Resin adhesive. Drill to suit external diameter of collar.
Remove and clean the thread of the clamp hook rod (C) Drill out the centre of knob (A) to take the collar. Insert the threaded collar. Fix the collar with epoxy resin adhesive. Allow adhesive to cure. Clean off any excess. Re assemble the mechanism. |
